For our last week of discussion, we ask that you read chapter 6 which discusses publication. For this chapter, please feel free to leave your own thinking about the chapter or use one of the prompts listed below. Thank you!

In this section of the book, Mary and I wanted to highlight the importance of publishing one's action research process, findings, and/or ongoing questions. We also wanted to demonstrate the wide variety of ways to publish. For teachers who might be thinking that they don't have time to publish, it could take the form of a blog post, sharing at the grade level or faculty meeting, or participating in social media chat or online book club!

If you're questioning why other educators would be interested in your work, we have found that teachers are most interested in fresh-from-the-classroom experiences, including what motivated your inquiry, what you tried, what worked and didn't work, and what your next steps are. You'll find yourself connecting with teachers with similar interests, or others who are pursuing different topics but find aspects of your process, such as data collection, that they can apply.

How have you published in the past, and what methods might you consider for the future? Who might be a good mentor for you, or to whom might you be a good mentor?

When I think about publication, the first thing that comes to mind is journals, books, presentations, or websites where information is kept. Yet, I think sharing our findings to our studies can occur in other avenues too such as PLCs or PLNs. Here we can share findings with colleagues, draw conclusions, and determine next steps for students based on the discussion. Also, these collaborative conversations can lead to new inquiry ideas, and the inquiry process begins again.
