Hi,

I'm Janice. Mary Buckelew and I are the co-authors of Action Research for English Language Arts Teachers: Invitation to Inquiry. We're looking forward to having an informal conversation about inquiry and action research. Our overall view of action research is that teachers who are lifelong learners are always striving to find what works best for their students. We're interested in how others have tried out various strategies in response to their students' needs. All experiences, observations, and questions are welcome!

Hi! My name is Meg Norris. I am looking forward to participating in this book club to deepen my understanding of action research and its implications for teacher and student learning through the readings and comments provided by fellow book club members.

Throughout my career, I have engaged in action research in a variety of ways - my own classroom studies, formal studies at the collegiate level, and PLC studies. Regardless of the setting, I always find action research to be valuable as it helps to improve instruction and leads me toward more forward thinking.

I'm excited to learn from everyone over the next few weeks!

Hi! My name is Liz Corson. I love how Mary and Janice have framed their book on action research as an invitation to inquiry, encouraging all teachers to incorporate action research into our classrooms. I am a 5th grade teacher and a doctoral student focusing my research on how to bring a critical literacy perspective into my classroom. I teach in a predominantly white public school. I'm excited to learn with everyone.

Hello! My name is Courtney Knowlton and I have been interested in action research involving the connection between mindfulness and language use ever since my Summer Institute with PAWLP. Mary and Janice included details about my research in their new book and it was so exciting to contribute to a published text for other teaching professionals! Currently I am playing around with different data collection ideas.

Also, I teach a course at Arcadia University in the summer and one of the assignments for the course invites the students to do action research during their fieldwork.
