OMG LOL: The Purpose and Power of Humor in Stories and Classrooms

!KSLA Delaware Valley is excited to welcome local CBSD teacher and author Matthew Landis! A full-time 8th and 9th grade history teacher at Tamanend Middle School, Matthew will present his favorite topic: the power of humor in stories and classroom instruction.
He will also share his journey from teacher to writer, and conduct a short writing workshop about deploying humor that can be adapted for virtually all ELA classes. Come ready to laugh, learn, write, and tuck away activities for future lesson plans!

See Matt talk about his presentation here!
Matthew will:
  • Explore the role of humor in both stories and classrooms
  • Share books and techniques for cultivating humor taken right from his classroom and novels.
  • Persuade you that your students can experience deep, meaningful joy if you cultivate an environment and library that celebrates hilarity
  • Probably tell a few jokes 😊😊
